The 2008 CFC conference will once again feature youth participation as an important part of this event!

This international gathering presents a unique opportunity for youth involved in community foundations in Canada and other countries to meet each other; gain new information and learn new skills; share ideas, experiences, challenges and opportunities; be introduced to new resources; and explore future possibilities for the youth in philanthropy network. It also provides an opportunity for adults to be exposed to the ideas, energy, commitment and capability of youth as valuable participants and partners in philanthropy, communities and community foundations!

The Youth Planning Committee, made up of young people and advisors from YACs from different parts of Canada and from the US, met to consider ways that young people could be involved and how they could get the most from the conference experience. They are now hard at work, developing a detailed youth program and networking activities, and generating ideas for “youth buzz”.

There will be:

  • Special youth forums and workshops
  • Concurrent sessions relevant to youth participants
  • Exciting plenary speakers
  • Off-site activities with Montreal youth organizations
  • A youth social event and many other networking opportunities
  • Fun, creativity, excitement, inspiration, and an opportunity to meet fellow YACers from near and far!

Every YAC will be encouraged to send one or two active members, born in 1992 or earlier, who have been with their group for at least a year, and who plan to stay involved for the foreseeable future. Those attending will be provided with lots of ideas and support to make sure that what they experience and learn at the conference will benefit their whole YAC.
