Giving Made Easy

An Ontario woman wanted to thank the group home that cared for her developmentally disabled son by leaving the organization a gift in her will. She felt the money could be used to upgrade the facilities after she was gone.

But after talking to her local BMO Financial Group representative and the community foundation in her neighborhood, the woman quickly realized there was an even better way for her to give. She discovered she could co-ordinate all her giving -- quickly and easily -- by establishing her own charitable fund through the Supporting Your Community program.

She named the fund in her late husband’s honour and now the Endowment Fund is taking care of all her charitable giving needs.

Her son’s group home receives annual donations from her fund – now and after she is gone. Her family won’t be burdened with financial decisions after her passing. And she is relieved of the administrative burden of managing her yearly donations.
